A Dream Destination Wedding at Hotel Xcaret – How We Got the Call

Every once in a while, a story lands in your inbox that you know is going to turn into something unforgettable. A couple of months ago, a photographer from Texas reached out to me with a bit of a dilemma—she was unable to photograph an upcoming destination wedding in Mexico at the iconic, luxurious Hotel Xcaret. She asked if I could step in.
I checked the date, took a deep breath, and said yes. The opportunity was too special to pass up.
She connected me with the bride, Meredith, who also happens to be from Texas, while her groom, Romain, is originally from Europe. Their love story spans countries and continents—a perfect match for such an extraordinary destination. I reached out to Meredith right away, letting her know that my team was available and excited to help.

What came next? Paperwork. Lots of it.
Hotel Xcaret is stunning, exclusive, and incredibly organized—but they require a mountain of documentation for outside photographers. It took time, patience, and more emails than I can count, but eventually everything was approved. Once the logistics were handled, we scheduled a group call with Meredith… and instantly clicked. She was warm, sweet, hilarious, and we knew the wedding was going
to be incredible.
Because Xcaret is massive and visually breathtaking in every direction, we matched the original photographer’s pricing and added an extra photographer to make sure the couple had full coverage. And honestly? I, Nadine, wasn’t missing the chance to experience this place myself—it’s a dream location for any photographer.

Wedding Day at Xcaret: Sunshine, Joy, and the Best Vibes
When the wedding day arrived, the weather was perfect—bright skies, zero rain, the kind of day brides hope for and photographers pray for. We met with the Xcaret wedding planners (who were absolutely outstanding), then finally met Meredith and Romain in person.
They were exactly as we imagined: kind, relaxed, overflowing with excitement. It felt like we had known them forever.
We explored the grounds to scout locations and found beautiful spots for the first look and bridal portraits—honestly, you could point a camera in any direction at Xcaret and get magic. Every corner has texture, color, architecture, or nature that begs to be photographed.
When it was time for the ceremony, yes… it was hot. But no one cared. The joy in the air was contagious. Family and friends were smiling nonstop, and the energy felt like a celebration long overdue. The ceremony itself felt like it lasted all of sixty seconds—Meredith and Romain were SO ready to say “I do.”
Portraits, Party, and the Perfect Ending
After the ceremony, we stole the bride and groom away for more portraits and were lucky enough to have extra time to explore additional locations. Hotel Xcaret is huge, and every area is wildly photogenic. We captured a gallery full of variety, color, and emotion—some of my favorite destination portraits we’ve ever done.
Then came the reception… and wow. This group came ready to celebrate. From the moment the music started, the energy was electric. Dancing, laughing, cheering—everyone was fully in the moment, and it felt like the night could have gone on forever.
Grateful Doesn’t Even Begin to Cover It
Stepping into this wedding with just weeks of notice was unexpected, but it turned into one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve had. We are so grateful to the original photographer for trusting us, to Meredith and Romain for welcoming us so fully, and to the Hotel Xcaret team for being absolute pros.
The photos from this wedding feel like a dream—vibrant, emotional, alive—and we’re honored to have been the ones to capture them.
Thank you, Meredith and Romain, for letting Mik 'n Drik Photography be part of your beautiful, international love story. We’ll be smiling about this wedding for a long time.
